Like most people that listen to at least some popular music, I’ve heard, and completely at a loss to understand, the song “gasolina”.  I know there are people that say the song is about carnal relations and what have you; but what I’m saying is that, besides the word ‘gasolina’ I can’t understand anything else Daddy Yankee is saying.

Like the song “Smells Like Teen Spirit” by Nirvana, its just a single word repeated over and over, adjacent to many other utterances that could be gibberish, or could be Spanish, or could be half-mumbled-but-somehow-still-yelled English.  That’s not to say the song isn’t good or that it isn’t entertaining.  I know people love dancing too it, and if I was into dancing I would definitely be a big fan of it too.

The song is also a very popular ringtone. The Gasolina Ringtone is in the top 50 ringtones out right now.  The song is a few years old, but it’s still pretty popular amongst mobile handset users apparently.
