As reported by Billboard.com, country mega-star Garth Brooks will not be just focusing on Wal-Mart to sell his upcoming box set release this November.

The large retailer will now have to compete with other retailers in selling The Ultimate Garth Brooks, a 3-disc boxed set featuring 34 tracks (including four new tracks) and a DVD containing videos for all the songs contained in the compilation, many of which have been created within the last several months.

In a surprising move, Brooks is finally moving past Wal-Mart and is allowing general retailers to also distribute his entire catalog, some of which hasn't been available since 1998.

Brooks has also scheduled a major (but still non-descript, according to Billboard) event in Nashville on August 17-18. The only event announced so far is a press conference on the 18th.

Don't expect this news of a boxed set to mean that Brooks will finally embark on a full-scale tour (something that also hasn't happened since 1998). He reportedly told promoters that he doesn't intend to tour until his youngest daughter graduates from HS in 2015.
