The band contributed a song to the BBC Radio 1 40th Anniversary CD [a David Bowie cover.] However, they seem to be pretty cool with fans just downloading the song.
In some sort of unknown context, the band said, "The whole shabang doesn't appear to be for charity so point your browsers towards Limewire soon, kiddies!"
Quite possibly, sarcasm was involved, or they were making a joke, because it's not like they work for free and donate everything they make to charity or anything.
And that's today's lesson in how anyone can take any comment, pop it out of context, and make it sound like anything they want it to. I strongly doubt Franz Ferdinand wants people to run around and take music off Limewire. Or maybe they do. I don't know, Alex Kapranos didn't answer his phone when I tried to call him.
