Dean Martin's posthumous duet album, the aptly titled Forever Cool, will be released on Aug. 14th. The CD is composed of Martin’s previously recorded vocals and newly grafted tracks laid down by such stars as neo-soulstress Joss Stone, actor Kevin Spacey, and trumpeter Chris Botti.

Though this type of after-the-fact partnering has been done to death, so to speak, the door to the musical time machine has been thrown wide open thanks to Michael Bublé and his ilk. Everyone wants a piece of the action, including the throwback diva/artist Joss Stone, as she joins the crooner on "I Can’t Believe That You're In Love."

While fusion and an interest in bygone eras are wonderful, one must wonder if there is burnout waiting at the end of this trend. Throughout all of its highs and lows, "crooner-chic" has remained within our general pop-culture consciousness, making it truly classic and, as we all know, a classic never dies.
