Yes, yes, I know. School shootings are very serious. But seeing as Manson has repeatedly tried to interject his name into other tragedies, and harps on the Columbine shootings, he should be pretty pumped.
At the same time, I bet he's crying to his barely legal girlfriend that his album came out in June, and it's way too late for the news to be reporting a school shooter "worshiped" him. He needed this publicity months ago, not now, damnit.
There is a video report online about the shooting, though the real story is the shooter, Asa Coon, was suspended on Monday for fighting over not believing in God, but instead, believing in Marilyn Manson. This is juicy stuff, no?
In reality, the kid actually had mental problems, has been in and out of mental hospitals and detention facilities, and tried to kill himself. But let's just sort of push all of that to the side and mention Marilyn Manson, the "gothic look," and things of that nature. It's so much more sensational that way.
In other words, a mentally ill person did something really horrible, and rather than look towards the actual problems, the sensationalism wins out. The fact that he "worshiped" Marilyn Manson means nothing. And you know why? Marilyn Manson never killed anyone [that we know of], shot anyone [that we know of], or did anything along the lines of what this kid did. He's just a performer and an artist. His name being dragged into it is as stupid as it was back in the days of Columbine -- and he was far more relevant back then, to boot.
It's too bad that tragedies all too often lead to finger-pointing in the wrong directions, ultimately making it harder for people who need help to get it. This also leads to people being treated like crap for dressing a certain way or listening to specific music. As such, nothing ever gets solved, and the root of most of these problems [bullying] doesn't ever end.
