Even though it may be a surprise to many, Eye of the Tiger was actually written for the movie Rocky III.  It’s strange because so many people equate it with Rocky that they may expect that it was included in the first movie.  It’s also weird because it stands alone well enough that you might be lead to think it was a pop song from the 80s that was included in the Rocky III soundtrack after the fact.

With the famous intro for this song it undoubtedly makes a great ringtone, which is why the Eye of the Tiger ringtone is very popular.

I’ve personally heard Eye of the Tiger come out of someone’s phone, unexpectedly, in a group of people.  Reactions were pretty much the same across the board: big smiles on most faces, a couple of ‘witty’ comments by a few… clichéd crap all around.  Good fun.

If you’re going to get a different ringtone, though, you may as well make it something that will get a positive reaction.  Nirvana’s Rape Me has a definitely different affect to large crowds of on-listeners.   Survivor creates a much nicer aire than Nirvana.
