A new article from Quad Cities Online explores the history of dumb lyrics in music, and determines that they are here to stay. While the writer doesn't get into too many lyrics, she does call out Hilary Duff, John Mayer, Led Zeppelin and the Steve Miller Band by name.

Here are a few of my favorite "dumb lyrics." These ones aren't confusing or weird or subliminal. They're just straight-up dumb.

1) "Billy Mack's a detective down in Texas / You know he knows just what the facts is." -Steve Miller Band, "Take the Money and Run"

This song is included in the article, but since it is the funniest lyric of all-time, it deserves another mention.

2) "Love is in the water / Love is in the air / Show me where to look / Tell me will love be there" -Collective Soul "Shine"

Look in the water!! Look in the air!!!

3) "Yes, I know all about that other guy / The handsome man with athletic thighs" -Everclear "I Will Buy You a New Life"

Alright, buddy.

4) "What the f**k, is you stupid?" -Tupac "Hit 'Em Up"

This gives Steve Miller a good run for his money.

5) "Three letters sent him to his final resting place" -TLC "Waterfalls"

AIDS is four letters. Thanks for coming. That concludes today's grammar lesson.

Of course, this is just the tip of the iceberg. There are so many more. If anyone has any other good ones, use the comments section.
