Dolly Parton is about to make a comeback with her next release, which is her first shot at "mainstream country" in 17 years. After the release in February, Dolly plans to head out for a world tour.
The album will be out on her very own new label, Dolly Records, which was created strictly for Dolly's releases.
After Parton has explored covers, gospel and bluegrass in recent years, Dolly Records' general manger explains the shift back to mainstream Dolly.
"She's a free agent right now so we decided to go around to the majors to at least see what kind of distribution deals they were bringing in, and didn't see anything I was interested in," said Nozell.
Nozell says the label has "the finances the major labels have" and he says the marketing plan for the upcoming record is "more extensive than any major has brought to me." Looks like we'll be seeing a lot of Dolly come early 2008. Consider me drooling with anticipation.
Look for the first single from the album on September 24, a song called "Better Get To Livin'"
