I've always thought that paparazzi were some of the worst humans on the planet. I mean, they're basically stalkers with more expensive cameras, right?

Well, Kid Rock has opened up my mind. Yes, that Kid Rock. Speaking with Maxim, Rock said:

Anytime somebody complains about being in the tabloids, it's bullshit. 'How do I keep getting caught on camera?' Maybe because you f**king called them (paparazzi)?

It's the biggest lie in the world - 'I don't like to be bothered. They harass my children.' Well, if you call them and tell them where you're going, you're playing that game.'

Is this true? It definitely seems like some celebrities make it easier for the paparazzi. If you go to a certain club or restaurant, especially in L.A., you're basically walking into the spider's web. But I never would've thought that celebrities are calling the paparazzi up and warning them about where they're going. Now that I think about it, that would make sense for up-and-coming celebrities. That's guerilla PR at its finest. Hell, it explains how that drunk chick with the huge rack "randomly" got famous on TMZ.com and then it turned out she was an aspiring model.

(PS - I love that chick)

But what about already-established celebrities? I doubt Britney Spears calls up the paparazzi and says, "Hey, come search through my trash!" I could see this as the sort of thing that people do to get famous, and then they find out that it can't be stopped.

Anyway, if you want to avoid paparazzi, I guess the best idea is to learn from Kid Rock and make sure all your craziest antics happen on national TV.

[Editor's note: This article has just been brought to my attention. Why do I ever underestimate Britney Spears when it comes to anything? However, seeking out paparazzi-filled hotspots is slightly different than calling them up and asking them to follow you around. Even Britney Spears must want privacy occassionally.]
