Vince Gill is speaking his mind and hopefully Nashville is
listening. Gill says country music's steadfast denial of anything Dixie Chicks-related is
growing foolish. While the Grammy sweep was a surprise, it has
brought the issue to a head. Now Gill, a leader and a maverick of
country music, has weighed in on this whole thing.
"Regardless of the controversy, they made a great record. You can analyze this thing into dirt, but at the end of the day, they're a great act with great songs. To me, you look like a fool arguing they don't deserve it."
Gill
said the same holds true with his career ideals and he's not upset over
the fact that he's not as big of a pop star as he used to be. The
perfect evidence, These Days, Gill's four disc set follow-up to 2003's Next Big Thing.
"I've always approached things from a musical mindset, rather then being a country star or a pop star," he said in regards to his declining commercial success.
