I think Live Nation is just going to have to accept that they can not book metal bands at the two House of Blues venues on Disney property in California or Florida, as the shows just keep getting canceled. And while this makes Disney look really stupid, it's just wildly inconvenient for the fans and the bands.
Disney's hang-up with the "unsavory" crowds came to light when they canceled two Machine Head shows with almost no notice. And most recently, they canceled a Viva La Bands tour stop in Tampa, FL.
Not Surprisingly, Dani Filth had less than sweetness and light for the mega-company:
The cancellation of our show on grounds of inappropriate content is a joke. We've already played there three times in the past," he continues, "so I'm guessing that the added antics of Bam and the barbarian grossness of GWAR to the unholy brew has warranted only further worry for the corporation. Lucky then that our 'Jesus Is A Cunt' t-shirts are inappropriate everywhere!
Anyway, if Disney didn't want to see hordes of black-clad figures lurking around their jaded kingdom then they should've thought twice about creating characters like Cruella DeVille and Maleficent in the first place. The main difference being that this tour is no fairytale and that we're the real fucking deal!
At least he has a sense of humor about it all... but it really is ridiculous to have a rock venue on your property when you're just going to block half the bands that are booked there from playing.
The Viva La Bands tour is still going strong, with plenty of dates remaining. I'll see you guys in New York, as I can't fucking wait to be standing in a crowd of like-minded psychopaths, soaked in GWAR blood and finally catching Cradle of Filth live.
