They, along with The Enemy, will be playing at London's Pentonville Prison on August 27th, and Carl Barat will also be doing an acoustic show in the atrium. Hey, if things keep up as they have been, he may end up doing a duet with a prisoner -- his ex-bandmate, Pete Doherty.
The show is a benefit for the Wasted Youth campaign, an organization that aims to lower the suicide rate among men in prison.
I don't know, I guess that's a nice goal and all, but I'd prefer death to prison myself, and think people should be able to choose that. Plus, I thought prison was meant to be a punishment -- so it seems kind of weird to give the guys in there a free show from a band that would sell out a venue in minutes. Oh well. Maybe I'm just feeling particularly misanthropic today.
