Bowie sent word about the donation and called the judicial process in Jena "unequal." Here's the word:
A donation to the Jena 6 Legal Defence Fund is my small gesture indicating my belief that a wrongful charge and sentence should be prevented.
Maybe he doesn't possess the grace or the linguistic brilliance of Ted Nugent, but the dude has a huge heart, despite those troubles a while back.
The NAACP, who is also involved in supporting the defense's case, responded to Bowie's contribution and his statement:
We are gratified that rock star David Bowie was moved to donate to the NAACP's Jena campaign. Mr Bowie shares our outrage. We hope others will join him.
Hey, Bowie's always on the lookout for Young Americans he can help out. What a great dude. Speaking of, did anybody pick up those new Bowie releases?
P.S. - A real big Shoutmouth shout goes to my homelands in the South. Get it together, y'all, this is not a good look.
