Always one to support the use of a swear here or a cuss there (or everywhere), David Banner has taken a shot at Reverend Al Sharpton for teaming up with the growing movement to clean up hip hop's lyrical content. Thanks to SOHH for the details.

After Sharpton helped organize protests last week to cut government funding to the music industry unless rap cleans up, an "animated" Banner responded thusly:

The next time you see Al Sharpton, tell him I said @#*$ him and he can suck my dick. I might change the name of my album from The Greatest Story Never Told to @#*$ Al Sharpton. I hate Al Sharpton.

Ah, the delicate words of Mississippi's finest. Lavell Crump 4eva.

But that's not all Banner had to throw at Sharpton. He continued:

They tried to crucify Nelly and Akon...we need to come together because they're only doing this because we're not saying anything. [Sharpton's] a permed-out pimp. Him and Jesse Jackson are out here charging people to do rallies with them. They're more worried about their investors than our kids. Tell him David Banner said it.

Talib Kweli also had a response to Sharpton's actions but suffice it to say his was not nearly as "animated." He did, however, remind the David Banners of the world that even though he might not agree with "people like Al Sharpton and Oprah," that they still deserve respect.

"What they say is important and it's relevant but I think we need our own leadership so that we can respectfully disagree and say 'I hear you uncle Russell, I hear you Al Sharpton' and be respectful about it. But we can't Kowtow to them either."

Kowtow, nice Talib, hadn't heard that one in a while.
