Chris Carrabba on New Album: 'A Gift To Fans'

Speaking of the new album, which he wrote and recorded in about a month, he described it as a "gift" to fans, for waiting so long for something like this to happen. He also let some other news out -- he has already written 14 new songs for his next album, and while there are no recording plans, he will probably play them while touring this autumn. You know what? That's how it is. When you're feeling something, run with it.

Chris recently sat down with Billboard to talk about The Shade of Poison Trees, which will come out October 2nd, and this is how he described the album:

I think it would be a stretch for any of these (songs) to get played on radio. We just announced it with such little fanfare and as directly as we could to my exact audience. It's a gift to them for waiting so long for something like this.

Interesting. In a sense, I feel that way, because I've always loved the stripped-down acoustic albums so much more than the full band, and I guess he knows that's what his core audience was attracted to.

As for the 14 new songs that he'll be recording sometime in the future, Chris said, "I'll probably play some of those songs on this tour, 'cause what's the point of waiting?"
