So I'm reading Blender just now, and I find a link to a new Chris Brown song called "Down," featuring guest verses from Kanye West. Kanye is enough of a reason to check out any song, but then I read that this particular song contained an interpolation of the 4 Non Blondes hit "What's Up?" And that right there is reason enough to post the song. Take a listen...
The similarities are pretty obvious, but had I not known, I probably would've assumed this was just a rip-off rather than an interpolation. I have nothing to say about Chris Breezy, except that I hope he asked his mom's permission before recording this song, so let's talk about 4 Non Blondes. Most casual music fans know them as a one-hit wonder, but singer Linda Perry has written songs for Christina Aguilera, James Blunt, Gwen Stefani and Pink. She rarely plays herself these days, but she's a behind-the-scenes force in the music world. In other words, give some respect to the woman in the video below. And then feel free to laugh at her ridiculous hat.
