Check it out, some actual Britney Spears news.
Britney Spears' label, Zomba Recording LLC, is suing blogger Perez Hilton for posting multiple tracks from Britney's new album without permission.
A rep from Zomba said:
The unauthorized dissemination of recordings is a serious violation of copyright law. In addition, posting demos and unfinished songs as if they were final versions is grossly unfair to the artist and misleading to the public.
What are the odds of Perez Hilton posting a story next week called "Everyone From Zomba Is Secretly Gay?" I'd say it's 60% at least.
A bunch of new Britney songs have surfaced across the Internet, but only the single "Gimme More" has been authorized for release. To combat these Internet leaks, Zomba has moved up the release of Britney's new album, Blackout, to October 30th (it had been scheduled for November 11th).
Perez Hilton is also being sued by DJ Samantha Ronson, who says that Hilton falsely accused her of possessing cocaine. Ronson claims in her lawsuit that PerezHilton.com is "10 levels below the National Enquirer" (which, logistically, is not even possible). Hilton defends himself by citing the First Amendment and by saying his posts are a matter of "public interest." To which I would counter, "who the hell is Samantha Ronson?"
In the final piece of Britney Spears news (for this hour), a judge has decided to allow Spears one overnight visit with her children per week. Spears lost custody of her two sons earlier this month for disobeying court orders. These weekly visits will be supervised, and hinge on Britney's ability to pass drug tests. Unfortunately, the weekly visitation night will be Mondays, and Britney really doesn't want to miss "Heroes," so we're not sure this is going to work out.
