A handful of artists have contributed to a new show at The Tate Modern in London; Basement Jaxx, Chemical Brothers, and Klaxons. The goal of this project is to combine art and music, simply by a work of art inspiring the musician.
In the galleries, headphones are placed next to the art while the viewer looks on to the visual. Therefore the viewer is listening to an audio interpretation of the visual art work.
Audio has certainly been combined with visuals before in an exhibition, but what's different about this is that the audio accompanying the work of art isn't chosen by or even created by the actual artist. Instead, the music was created by artists with no association to the actual work of art.
You can check out the Basement Jaxx piece right here.
Not only are they asking for contributions from famous artists, they want contributions from unknown music artists as well, all you have to have is a Myspace page. So if you're a musician who has a Myspace page and love for art, here's your chance!
