From the strange news department, Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson party with her dad, who apparently can keep up with Pete's hot temper and has no problem throwing a few punches himself when Pete gets into a fist fight at a bar. For those keeping count, I think this is Pete's third [publicized] fight this year, and Joe's first, that I know of.
The story, as it's being told, involves Pete, Ashlee, Joe, and some of their friends leaving the Decaydance Video Music Awards after party. The scene was set: a crowded club, and the super-VIPs were trying to make a fast exit to Pete's waiting SUV. Bouncers were blocking their way, and Pete went a bit off the handle, yelling about how it was his car and he paid for it, and demanding they be let through. Naturally, because bouncers love when short dudes yell and curse at them, Pete got shoved by a bouncer, which inadvertently led to the lovely Ashlee Simpson being pushed against a wall.
From there, Pete started throwing punches, and Joe Simpson stepped in as well. Once they all escaped the club, with nobody hurt, Ashlee started lunging at photographers [as she was apparently feeling left out] but Pete reigned her in and all was well again.
After it was all over, Joe spoke with New York's The Daily News. He said, "When somebody messes with my baby, then it's over!" and reportedly did the throat-slashing sign with his finger that you usually only see in horror or mafia movies. He added the bouncers were "just mad they make $12 an hour."

Nothing says love like your boyfriend and your daddy not only hanging out together, but getting into some good old-fashioned bar brawls together. I'll bet that's why Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey just couldn't make it work -- he never figured out the perfect way to bond with Papa Joe. He probably tried things like fishing, or hiking, maybe playing checkers, or just watching a game on TV. And the answer was just so obvious: bar brawls!
