Alanis Morrisette sang both the American and Canadian National Anthems before last night's Stanley Cup Finals game, and according to the AP, her appearance displeased some fans.
Morrisette sang the anthem at the first-ever Ottawa Senators home game in 1992, and was asked to return to Ottawa for last night's Game 4 of the finals. Since 1992, a man named Lyndon Slewidge has sung the anthem at all Ottawa home games. Slewidge is apparently a fan favorite, and ends each anthem with a wink and a thumbs up. After it was revealed that Morrisette would sing at last night's game, a letter in the Ottawa Sun criticized the decision.
This is all true. Obviously some people in Ottawa don't have very much to do.
