Looks like our good friends at Amazon.com actually got it right, because the official Cobra Starship mailing list sent out the cover with Gabe, the cobra ring, and the gold chains, announcing it as the official cover for Viva La Cobra! Don't ask what that neon monstrosity from last week was -- just be glad it's gone. The band has also announced a special MySpace contest for their fans.
If you have always dreamed of being in Cobra Starship's MySpace Top 8, now is your chance. First, you have to actually be MySpace friends with the band. Got that part down? Take a photo of yourself doing your best impression of Gabe on the cover of the new album -- and make that your main profile picture. Then send an E-mail out with the subject line "Cobra Myspace Takeover" and include your MySpace URL in the body. That's all it takes to maybe make it into the band's Top 8.
I really have to say again, I'm glad that other cover that was floating around was a fake and this one is the real deal. It's way cooler and just seems more "Cobra Starshipish" than the neon line art one from hell.
