Tupac is the greatest rapper ever. Anyone who disagrees with this assertion is ultimately wrong. Now, there are many great rappers who have come and gone, but none combined an amazing flow and thought-provoking lyrics the way Tupac did. He was a trendsetter who did a lion's share of the work bringing rap from a fledgling genre to the powerhouse it is today. Nearly every current rapper cites Tupac as an influence, and the one who don't most likely aren't very good.

You probably know Miley as Hannah Montana, the popular Disney character. Last year Miley went from being a kids' star to a full-fledged pop star, thanks to her half-Miley, half-Hannah double album. Her nationwide tour was the biggest of 2007 and she made an astonishing $18 million last year. Oh, and she's only 15 years old. Can you imagine having $18 million at age 15? You could buy, like, 5,000 ponies and still have enough left over to get your own American Eagle franchise.

A year ago, Miley Cyrus, a.k.a. Hannah Montana, was known as an act for little kids. In fact, if you're an adult, you probably didn't even know that Cyrus was a singer. You probably just thought she was a TV star on a children's show. And that's the way it should be. I mean, if you're an adult in 2006 and you knew a ton about Miley Cyrus, chances are there was something seriously wrong with you, and Chris Hansen had your house under heavy surveillance.

Chris Daughtry came in fourth on "American Idol," losing to the likes of Taylor Hicks and Katharine McPhee. However, Daughtry went on to become one of the most successful "Idol" alums ever. You could argue that Daughtry is the 3rd most successful person that has ever been on "Idol," behind only Kelly "The Original Idol" Clarkson and Carrie "The Perfect Woman" Underwood.

Ray J is a musician and the brother of singer Brandy, but chances are you know him best from his sex tape with Kim Kardashian. In his latest song, "Sexy Can I," Ray J tries to seduce a woman in a smooth R&B-thug style. Rapper Yung Berg is featured on the song, and Shaquille O'neal appears in the music video. "Sexy Can I" is on Ray J's album All I Feel, which was released on April 8th, 2008. The album sold 39,000 copies in its first week, placing it 7th on the Billboard charts.

Sara broke through a couple months ago with the now-mega-hit "Love Song."

A couple months ago, you probably didn't know who Sara Bareilles was. But now, thanks to the omnipresence of "Love Song," chances are you're familiar with her. "Love Song" is a relatable song because it deals with the topic of heartbreak; something that is well-known by many people. In this song, Sara Bareilles tells an old boyfriend that she won't write him a love song, even though he wants one. Of course, that's kind of what she did by writing this song, but either way, the song makes the guy look like a pretty big jerk, so it worked out well for Sara. It's another of the many reminders why you should never date a female who is a singer/songwriter.

Madonna has been both a trendsetter and a pop icon for about 25 years. Few musicians can achieve the balance between critical acclaim and commercial success that Madonna has had over her career. From "Holiday" to "Ray of Light" and everything in between, Madonna has remained on the cutting edge of pop music trends. Now the singer is back with a brand new song called "4 Minutes." On this song, she gets some help from Justin Timberlake and Timbaland. The result is a pop song that is nearly perfect for the musical climate of 2008.
