Shins' frontman, James Mercer, was apparently inspired by his druggie neighbors. Inspired to move. The dealers/smokers broke into his house and stole the master copy of Oh, Inverted World, prompting Mercer to reconsider his living situation. "I did finally move when the police started raiding their house and the neighbors blamed it on me. They were threatening to kill me, drive-by shoot my house, all that stuff."
Wincing the night away, indeed.
