Victory Records has announced it will be releasing a new Taking Back Sunday album on October 30th. There's just one problem: Taking Back Sunday isn't on the Victory label. The band notoriously fought with Victory for years before going over to Warner Bros. for the hit 2006 album Louder Now. So naturally, it came as a surprise to fans when Victory made this announcement.

Turns out this so-called new album will actually be a collection of Taking Back Sunday songs that were recorded in the Victory era. So these songs would have most likely been recorded between 1999 and 2004. It's effectively a B-sides album, though I'm sure TBS fans will still be interested.

You've got to wonder how the band feels about this. On the one hand, they probably have little say in this album release, which has to be awkward. On the other hand, it can't hurt to have the music out there, and it's doubtful that Victory is going to put out some album if they think it's a pile of crap.

In not-really-related news, I just found out Taking Back Sunday is from Amityville, and I laughed. Does any other town have such a horrible image for no reason? I mean, it's a nice little Long Island town with a rich cultural heritage. But six guys died in the 1970s, and Eminem wrote a song in 2001, and now everyone thinks Amityville is some slightly downgraded version of Hell. And the Eminem song wasn't even about that town. Amityville needs to hire a new publicist, ASAP.
