Alanis Morissette is a talented singer and actress. Everyone knows she re-defined post-grunge female angst on a global scale in the mid 90s. Everyone also knows she was the center of my world when I was in middle school.
In celebration of her 33rd birthday, here is a list of things you may or may not know about the Canadian songstress.
1. She opened for Vanilla Ice in 1990.
Alanis has an oft-forgotten history as a Canadian teen idol. Listen to this angsy post-pop version of her ancient single "Too Hot".
2. From ages 14-18 Alanis suffered from anorexia and bulimia nervosa.
3. She is an ordained minister of the Universal Life Church.
4. She is allergic to soy.
5. Let's face it. "You Oughta Know" is probably about Uncle Joey.
While everyone from Weird Al to Matt LeBlanc has been accused of being her "movie theatre" beau, all signs point to Dave Coulier.
6. Ironic? Not really. It was all Sod's Law.
Sod's Law is a name for the axiom "Anything that can go wrong, will"
7. Alanis played herself on the hit show* "You Can't Do That on Television".
*Hit show as defined by six year olds around the globe during the mid 80s.
8. Watch as she parodied herself, her "sister", and celebrity as whole on MAD TV!
Watch out for Delicious Morissette!
9. She also played that crazy chick on Nip/Tuck.
10. She almost married Ryan Reynolds
Yep. That could have been her husband.
