In the year 347 BC, a representative from the city of Athens was sent to Macedonia to make peace with King Philip II. Coinage was first introduced in Rome. The great philosopher Plato died and was replaced by his nephew Speusippus as head of the Academy. And Zack De La Rocha started working on a solo album.
Alright, it hasn't been quite that long, but it was roughly 7 years ago that whispers of a De La Rocha solo album began. Since Rage's breakup in 2000, De La Rocha has been busy traveling the world and inspiring political change. Or maybe he's been sleeping til noon every day. No one's really sure. What he hasn't been doing is finishing his solo album... until now.
According to Billboard, De La Rocha worked on the untitled album with drummer Jon Theodore, formerly of the Mars Volta. It was partially recorded in Jack Johnson's L.A. studio. As of now, there is not an official release date. De La Rocha is not signed to a label, and is weighing his options for distribution of the album.
Now here's the best part...
Billboard says the album sounds like a cross between "Led Zeppelin and Dr. Dre." Then they say, "some of it has the power you'd expect from him in Rage."
The news that this album is finally done would be enough. But telling us it will sound like Dre and Zeppelin? That's just sick.
I don't know about you guys, but I'm pretty excited.
