Duty Hill, bass player for the legendary ZZ Top, says the band is basically all ready to record a new album, but they haven't yet. Thanks for the premature update, guy.

Anyway, Hill said the band has written around 50 new songs for the follow-up to 2003's "Mescalero," and interestingly enough, one song idea is 25-years-old.

The band also might be releasing a concert DVD, which would be their first ever. The DVD would be a collection of hits and obscure tracks like "Brown Sugar" and "Francine."

ZZT was featured on this weekend's second annual VH1 Rock Honors, which will air on May 24.

The band is currently label-less after having left RCA records in September of last year. To see their schedule for the year so far, head here.
