Willie Nelson will get a giant, and very professional, high-five from BMI as he will be named a BMI Icon at a November 6 ceremony in Nashville.

The honor is given to BMI songwriters and artists who have "had a unique and indelible influence on generations of music makers."

Other artists who have received the honor include Merle Haggard, Dolly Parton, Bill Anderson, Charlie Daniels and Loretta Lynn.

 

In other Willie Nelson news, he recently contributed a Fats Domino cover, of "I Hear You Knockin'," to a Fats Domino tribute album.

 

Finally, Willie had to cancel a dozenconcerts scheduled for the midwest. Rumor was that he had cancer or some other serious ailment, but his publicist insists that he his healthy.
