Velvet Revolver has decided to set up a scholarship in honor of Daniel Sorum, the brother of VR drummer Matt Sorum. Daniel passed away earlier this year from brain cancer. He was 11 years old.
The Daniel J. Sorum Memorial Scholarship Fund will benefit students from The Wilmar Community Christian School, the school that Daniel had been attending.
In addition, Velvet Revolver will be hosting a charity event this Wednesday in Minneapolis at the Xcel Energy Center. VIP tickets are $100 and attendees will have a chance to bid on items from VR and Alice in Chains.
Velvet Revolver and Alice in Chains are currently on tour together.
