All three of the albums that sit atop of the Billboard 200 were recorded in Nashville at Martina and John McBride's Blackbird Studio.
The albums? Bon Jovi's Lost Highway, The White Stripes' Icky Thump and Brad Paisley's 5th Gear. Yeah, who saw that one coming?
John also says that they're starting to get more rock artists. Recently the studio booked sessions with The Raconteurs, Kid Rock, Kings of Leon and Altar Bridge while even Staind is considering recording there.
John has a theory on why they're so successful at Blackbird, having already cited the comfortable environment.
"We look at it like the artists, engineers and producers are painters, and I want to be able to give them every color on the palette. I don't want them to ever be limited by what we do."
Any recent day at Blackbird will attest to its variety. According to the GAC article, one day's lineup included Maria Carey, Jewel, Big & Rich, R. Kelly and Kid Rock all working on different projects.
