Albums

The latest installment of the Billboard Albums chart is out, and the theme of the week is album titles. Toby Keith is #1 this week, as he moves 204,000 copies of the ridiculously-named Big Dog Daddy. Now, I'm a little out of the loop when it comes to country music, but I just spoke to Shoutmouth's country music expert, DirtySouthMouth, and he explained the meaning behind the album. Apparently the title Big Dog Daddy is a tie-in with Ford trucks, and supposedly the name came about like this: Toby Keith was sitting in a big Ford pickup, and some guy walked up to him and marveled at the size of his truck.

GUY: That's a big dog!!

TOBY KEITH: ...

...

...

Big dog daddy!!!

And that's how legends are made. In second place this week, Fabolo-virus returns to the charts with his latest effort, From Nothin' To Somethin'. This marks the rapper's highest chart position ever, as well as the first time anyone has ever used an apostrophe instead of a G in the word "something." Maroon 5 moves up one spot with It Won't Be Soon Before Long, which sounds like a title Yogi Berra would come up with, if Yogi Berra made chick music. In eighth place is a new addition to the charts, DJ Khaled with his album We the Best. Not sure what exactly he's the best at, but I'm guessing it's not grammar. In 9th is the self-titled anthology from The Traveling Wilburys. The Traveling Wilburys was comprised of some of the biggest geniuses in rock history - Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne and Roy Orbison - and yet apparently they couldn't even come up with a title for this album. Lame. Of course, considering I had to resort to Wikipedia to find out how many of the band members were alive, well, I probably shouldn't have expected much.

Singles

Rihanna continues her domination of the world, as "Umbrella" remains atop the Singles Chart for yet another week. Have we reached the point where a whole generation will never be able to mention umbrellas for the rest of their lives without someone going "Ella, ella, ella, eh eh eh eh eh?" We must be getting close.

1) Rihanna featuring Jay-Z "Umbrella"

2) Shop Boyz "Party Like a Rockstar"
