Tony Yayo rejected a plea deal offered to him on charges of assault, harassment and endangering the welfare of a child today.
The deal would have sent Yayo to jail for nine months. The charges stem from allegations that the G-Unit rapper slapped the 14-year-old son of Czar Entertainment head Jimmy "Henchmen" Rosemond in Manhattan in March. Rosemond, as we reported at the time, is the manager of G-Unit and 50 Cent rival The Game.
According to the Associated Press today, Yayo's lawyer, Scott Leemon, was clear in his position: "The prosecution's nine-month offer is one Tony vehemently rejected. It's not even a good offer for a guilty person, and Tony denies the allegations absolutely."
Not to make light of an arguably touchy situation, but I just had a mini-epiphany over here. How hard do you think you have to look for a criminal defense lawyer when your nom de plum is Tony goddamn Yayo?
My bet is pretty hard.
