While the rest of Connecticut is celebrating "Yacht Club Day," the city of Bridgeport has decided to celebrate "50 Cent Day." Mayor John Fabrizi declared the informal holiday, and will present Fitty with a key to the city and an official proclamation later today. The rapper, who has been involved in improving the lives of inner city youth, will present a check to the non-profit charity Hall Neighborhood House. Fabrizi says that 50 also agreed "with no hesitation" to speak with some local students.

50 Cent is currently in Bridgeport filming a movie with Al Pacino and Robert De Niro.

Obviously the city was impressed with some of 50's inspirational lyrics. Like, say, these:

"My Gun Go Off"

You see the barrell turnin'
You feel the hollows burnin'
N***a now you learnin'
N***a, my gun go off

"High All The Time"

I don't need Dom Perignon, I don't need Cris
Tanqueray and Alize, I don't need shit
N***a I'm high all the time, I smoke that good shit
I stay high all the time, man I'm on some hood shit

"I'll Still Kill"

Where I'm from death is always in the air homie
Nana love me so you know she say my prayers for me
I come creepin through the hood wearin teflon
Hit the corners motherf**kers get left on
N***az know, if not they better check my background
Try and stick me I'll fill your back with mac rounds

[This is a good thing, trust me. These kids could learn something from 50 Cent, besides how to hype an album. But for God's sake, when is Connecticut going to honor Jesus H. Christ and the Four Hornsmen of the Apocalypse??]
