Although it was reported the other day that they were meant to work with Phil Spector -- who ditched them to work with some solo dude who reminds him of John Lennon -- the band is soldiering on and things are progressing well on their new effort.

Everyone in Vines camp is excited about the new album being in the works and are glad that all the fans are showing so much interest. Just to keep everyone updated on whats going on heres a bit of a progress report:
Craig has been immersed in writing and the band has been busy demoing the songs he's coming up with. They're about a month away from having about 25 fully demoed songs to pick and choose from for the new album. The guys are spending alot of time on it so that they have a wide variety of material to choose from and can smooth out anything they think needs a bit of smoothing out.
Without having a label they have this freedom at this point. Once they feel they have a solid compilation for an album they will be choosing a new label and a producer and will get in the studio for final cuts. We'll keep you all updated! A September release date is probably not going to happen but a 2007 release is very likely. Hang in there kids.
Seeing as it's August 16th, I'd say, no, a September release is not going to happen, what with the songs not being recorded yet and the band not having a label. If it did happen, I'd actually become afraid of The Vines, because it would mean they had learned to bend space and time.
