They were scheduled to headline the show, tonight, but pulled out of the performance at the last minute, offering no reason for the cancellation. However, they did post a promise to "make it up" to fans. Last month, they canceled all their US dates.
The band's message was short and sweet:
The Fratellis will not be appearing as the headline act at the 3 First Cut Awards in London, Thursday 17th May but will play a rescheduled show for ticket holders who attend the show.
Maybe they're still tired; after all, they canceled their US dates due to "exhaustion."
Or -- if I may speculate -- maybe they're on the verge of breaking up. The last band to suddenly cancel gigs with little to no reason was The Cooper Temple Clause, and they announced their split-up less than a week later. The way I see it is, sometimes rapid fame gets to people's heads -- and The Fratellis definitely were hyped and pushed to the stars in almost no time flat.
However, I'm just speculating. For all anyone knows, the drummer's grandmother is ill or the singer has a backache. That's the beauty of short and sweet cancellations -- people can just guess and make things up.
