The drummer was asked to leave the band in 2003, and was rather quiet about his departure -- until now -- when he's decided to "correct the lies" and lash out at Kelly Jones. Hmmmm. I wonder if this has anything -- at all -- to do with his new band.

Naaah, that would be like the oldest cheap and free publicity stunt in the book!

According to ICWales, Cable's biggest gripe with former bandmate and friend Kelly Jones was his "dictatorial style", including Kelly's decisions to change the band's sound over the course of their career. He went on to say the change from the more rock sound of Performance and Cocktails led to the band losing rock fans, and gaining "girls who thought Kelly was cute" as fans.

Further, he added, "Personally, I think Stereophonics has shot its bolt. If you look at their albums now they are nowhere near as popular as they were six or seven years ago." He also repeatedly referred to the band's hit single "Dakota" as "a pop song", and he certainly didn't mean it as a compliment.

Although Stuart and Kelly reportedly came to an agreement that they'd put their problems in the past and even had a couple of drinks in Cwmaman last December, Stuart was angered he wasn't asked to be a part of the band's upcoming DVD [to give his side of the story] and took exception to comments about both him and his mother that were published in a magazine.

His summation of Kelly Jones? "Kelly is the friendliest shark in the sea, he's only nice to you when he wants something."

Harsh words, sir.

He went on to say he wanted to tell his side of the story on the DVD -- which is, "We had become the Kelly Jones band...I didn't want to be a puppet on a string so my view was that I would finish that tour and then get out, but obviously I was sacked." Kelly tells a different story, claiming he had to fire the drummer because he wasn't showing up for gigs and rehearsals.

Meanwhile, Stuart believes the end is near for Stereophonics. And ostensibly, that his new band will be the future of rock and roll. Who knows? One thing is for sure, Kelly Jones is unlikely to let this comments go without a response or ten.
