Yes, the actress. The hot one.

After singing with the Jesus and Mary Chain at Coachella, ScarJo has decided to do it up right and make an album of Tom Waits covers (hmmm I wonder if her voice sounds like a dude who lives at the bus station and smokes a carton of cigarettes a day?). Now, it has been confirmed that members of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and studio mastermind David Sitek (of TV on the Radio fame) are lending a hand.

If that doesn't blow you mind to pieces, check out this quote from Dockside Studio owner (where the album is being recorded) Steve Nails: "[The music is] like a theater, big screen. Lots of heavy bass tones in it. Without a bass guitar, we used all kind of different instruments to create these sounds. It was a great experiment. Very avant garde. She sounds like Marilyn Monroe." He also "predicts her CD will go platinum and win a Grammy."

Hopefully this all has Woody Allen's approval.

Footnotes

Tom Waits' reaction to her album:

I don't know if I'm excited to hear it, but I'm curious. People make songs so that somebody else will hear them and want to do them. I guess it's an indication that the songs aren't so ultra-personal that they can't possibly be interpreted by anyone else. I've seen her in movies. I don't know what she's going to do with the tunes. When you get a hold of somebody else's song, you make it your own. That's all you can do. And that usually requires a certain amount of tailoring. Cut the sleeves off, lay some buttons. Everybody does something different to a song, that's the tradition.
