I'm pretty sure ICP just keep playing in Utah because their fans have officially been labeled a gang in that state, and as such, it's fun to screw with the officials. They actually had a gang unit prepared to respond to the concert. Really.
The local news reported the increased presence of the Metro Gang Unit. The paper reported, Lt. Teri Summers with the Metro Gang Unit said, "We'll be there, they'll know we're there." What was their worry? Juggalo [ICP fan] on Straight Edge violence. Seriously? He went on to say [Teri is a dude]: "The straight-edge is very volatile with the Juggalos. They don't get along."
Well, it turns out the Metro Gang Unit didn't do so well at preventing issues. Or maybe they caused them, who knows? The one thing that's known is seven people were hospitalized, and the Unified Fire Authority sent units in to help disperse the crowd and help the injured.
The local news reported, "not enough security was hired for the concert and that several exit doors were not working, which could be a fire hazard."
Way to go, Metro Gang Unit! Not only do they think Juggalos and Straight Edge kids are gangs, but they can't even keep them in line.
Utah must be one crazy state, since this really is not a problem anywhere else on earth. If by any chance you're reading this and live in Utah, can you please explain just what in the hell is going on over there?
