Scott Stapp has settled a lawsuit with the company World Wide Red Light District over a 1999 sex tape. The tape shows footage of Stapp and Kid Rock engaged in "relations" with four groupie on the back of a tour bus. Red Light is forced to halt production of the video, and will pay Stapp a fee for damages caused.

According to Stapp's lawyer (and E! Online), the undisclosed monetary sum was "in Scott Stapp's favor."

He added that this deal ensured "a private matter remains private."

Last year, Stapp explained the situation to AP Radio by saying, "Obviously, someone wants to hurt me, and doesn't want me to be successful in my solo career."

According to E! -- and I quote -- "The 'Arms Wide Open' rocker was seeking damages to compensate for the loss of reputation, embarrassment, pain and suffering and emotional distress he incurred when the footage made the Internet rounds."

A year ago (February 2006), Kid Rock filed an injuction that stopped Red Light from posting the video on websites such as kidrocksextape.com and scottstappsextape.com.

When told about Stapp's quote that someone was out to get him, Kid Rock responded, "[Stapp] is the idiot because it's out. I'm holding him responsible."

Stapp can now get his life back to normal, just as soon as he's done climbing a mountaintop to do a victory pose.
