What would you say to the news that Gerard Way, Chris Carrabba, and Adam Lazarra, amongst others, were all guest singers on Say Anything's In Defense of the Genre? I'm guessing something like, "I can't wait for October 23rd, when it hits stores," no?
Details? Well, for starters, Gerard Way sings on "In Defense of the Genre," Chris Carrabba sings on "Retarded in Love," and Adam Lazarra sings on "Surgically Removing the Tracking Device." Sounds good... but look who else has contributed to this double-disc: Anthony Ranieri of Bayside, Pete Yorn, Matt Skiba, Kenny Vassoli of The Starting Line, Chirs Conley of Saves The Day, Hayley Williams of Paramore, Caithlin De Marrais of Rainer Maria, Anna Waronker, and DJ Swamp. It looks like Say Anything pulled out all the stops -- and made some great scores. I think they'll sell a sizeable number of albums based on some of these guest stars alone -- not to in any way take away from the band's own following, which is extensive.
The album's tracklisting has also been revealed:
