That is the rumor. Apparently the producers of "Desperate Housewives" are interested in having Robbie Williams and soccer star David Beckham play lovers in a future episode of the show.
"Desperate Housewives" writer Marc Cherry said:
David's keen, but the obvious choice was to work with Tom Cruise.
We wanted someone who matches [Beckham] in height and Britishness, so Robbie is the one.
They're both funny, game for a laugh and ridiculously macho, so it should work wonderfully. The English are pitch-perfect for sending themselves up.
It's 10:30 on a Monday morning, and it's too early for a "bend it like Beckham" joke, so let's just stop here.
