Corey Taylor was planning on being the new singer of Anthrax, but due to scheduling conflicts, he had to back out. Taylor is currently on tour with Stone Sour, and when that tour wraps up later this year, he'll begin work on a new Slipknot album.
Though Taylor tried to make room for Anthrax, it turns out his record company may have squashed the deal. Taylor talked to Metal Hammer Magazine about the scheduling conflicts.
TAYLOR: Various people at the record company [Roadrunner] put their foot down about that. So the way we've left it is that I will do a couple of songs with them, and not the whole album.
METAL HAMMER: That must have been incredibly frustrating?
TAYLOR: Of course. I was so stoked that the Anthrax guys would consider doing anything with me. So the last thing I wanted to do was let them down. I have no idea of what they'll do now [that I'm unavailable], but the fact that they would still want to do something with me is very exciting. We'll have to see what happens.
Taylor also spoke about the new Slipknot album:
Oh, I've got an absolute ton of stuff, man. I got three notebooks of ideas from the past year and a half alone. It's so great, I think we're gonna do something really different with this album. Different, but brutal.
