Although Hook has already confirmed the band's breakup, he spoke candidly on BBC 6 Radio about it for the first time. An emotional Hook declined to give any reason, however, beyond, "it's personal."

I'm guessing all the late-2006 rumors about tension on the set of the Ian Curtis biopic were true; and how could they not cause problems for the band? Imagine re-living, and watching people re-enact the tragic suicide of your friend and former bandmate?  I'm strongly suspecting, with emotions running high and reported clashes between Hook and the film's director, Anton Corbjin, there was nothing the band could do but split.

Of the split, Hook said, "It has been very sad actually, and it has been very difficult to live with, but that is life, isn't it?" he said. "But you pick yourself up, you dust yourself off, and you start all over again."

Meanwhile, Peter Hook has recently been keeping in touch with fans via MySpace, and he's also been doing DJ gigs.  No word on what other musical endeavors, if any, the members of New Order have planned.
