Farm Aid's first show in New York finally has the beginnings of a lineup. The John Mellencamp, Willie Nelson and Neil Young-curated event is set for September 9 on Randalls Island, east of Manhattan.

So far, organizers have booked Counting Crows, The Allman Brothers Band, Montgomery Gentry and The Derek Trucks Band, among others. Don't forget that Farm Aid regulars Dave Matthews, John Mellencamp, Willie Nelson and Neil Young will also perform.

Mellencamp said he is glad the concert is being held in New York because "New Yorkers consume so much food." Somebody fax The Coug some population stats for NYC. Maybe he means collectively, or maybe he's John Mellencamp and he's a nutter.

The classic rocker also said he and the other two Farm Aid creators thought that it would only take one year of the concert to convince the governement to adopt pro-family farmer policies, but in the end "we were naïve."

The concerts have raised more than $30 million in the last twenty years and for the first time ever, they hope to serve only local, family-farmed food.

Warren Haynes, The Supersuckers, Guster, Matisyahu and The Ditty Bops are also on the bill.
