The always trusty Beverly Keel, from Nashville's The Tennessean, is out in Vegas to keep a close watch on all the Academy of Country Music award happenings. Thanks to her we've got a bit of a wrap up of what's going on so far.

She says members of Lonestar have been playing a good bit of craps, where Karen Fairchild claims the members get around the table to "whoop and holler."

Keith Anderson is there simply for the partying, which he says is so good that it "can be 3 in the morning, but it feels like 4 in the afternoon because there's so much going on."

The ACM built two stages at the Fremont Street Experience for some performances Saturday night. There, a supposedly shirtless Trent Tomlinson (classy, guy) said most country music singers don't know what they're singing about because, "They don't drink, and they don't smoke, but I do." Impressive.

Trick Pony closed up shop Saturday night with a performance led by their brand new singer, 19-year-old Aubrey Collins.

One little fun tidbit: the industry has booked 12,000 hotel rooms for the week. Damn. Who knew how huge country music was ... other than Billboard of course.
