Mos Def has expressed his disappointment and anger over what he sees as a lack of support from the entertainment industry for the Jena 6. Mos is currently in Jena, Louisiana to lend his support to the six black teens charged with assault on white students.

The rapper turned actor railed on his hip hop contemporaries by noting that they're always on hand for award shows and parties but they're a no-show in Jena:

Shame on everybody who's not here. I'm fuckin' mad. I'm disappointed to always be coming to these things and it's only one or two people [from the industry here]. If you ain't gonna use your voice, then be quiet. I'm disappointed and ashamed.



Not that Mos is wrong, but I'm assuming he doesn't exactly have a ton of music industry appointments lately. Besides that Kanye spot, things haven't been all that peachy in MD-land.

 

So anyway, who was this "or two" Mos referred to? Glad you/I asked. UGK's Bun B also headed over to Jena when he heard what was going on. Here's what he had to say:

I grew up right next to a town where it's strictly white people. I've been privy to these small incidents of violence in these all-white towns. We were blessed to find out about the Jena Six and were blessed to try to make some type of impact in this community before things went too far.
