In the wake of V2's closing, Moby has signed with Mute Records, whose roster includes Nick Cave, Paul Van Dyk, Goldfrapp and Erasure.

Moby explained why he signed with Mute to Billboard:

"A: I live a few blocks from Mute U.S headquarters, B: the people at Mute U.S. are my friends, and C: the people at Mute U.S are smart and love music," Moby said.

He's currently working on a follow up to 2005's Hotel.
