Matchbox 20 is in the studio working on tracks for the band's next album, Exile on Mainstream. LiveDaily reports that the album is due October 2nd.

Front man Rob Thomas talked about the recording sessions:

For the first time, we're all writing as a band. In the past, I would write all the songs and the guys would write all their parts. Now it's a band in the hand. We all fight it out... we fight over melodies and lyrics. It's completely unique from anything we've done before.

Matchbox 20 is working with producer Steve Lillywhite, who is well-known for his previous work with Dave Matthews, the Rolling Stones and U2. Exile on Mainstream will be the band's first album since 2002.

First off, great album title. Secondly, the Dental Association of America just released the following statement: "Finally, some hot new shit to spin in our offices!"
