When Lucinda Williams plays two upcoming five-night stands, one in LA, one in NY, she won't be using any advice she got while touring with Bob Dylan.
She says that as she burns through her five most well known records, she won't "do like Bob Dylan does, and make up new melodies so you don't understand the song." So he was doing that on purpose?
Lucinda talked to Smoking Section (thanks to Rolling Stone) and she told them the five-night stands were her manager/fiance's idea, Tom Overby.
She added that, "it's a real honor for me to celebrate the history of my music a little bit, and have fun doing it at the same time."
She said she was excited to try out her old songs again, many of which have "a certain kind of innocence and sweetness" that she appreciates.
She won't announce the names of special guests but it is a "tastefully star-studded" event that will feature guests ranging from "British powerhouses" to "country royalty" and "NYC punks." My goodness, that sounds dramatic. But I'm guessing Mick or Bono, Willie and Lou Reed or Patti Smith.
Williams also said she'll be back in the studio to record a new album in January.
