It has been a couple years since we last heard from Lifehouse, but now the band is back with a new album called Who We Are. The album, which comes out June 26th, should be a return to form for the band that was once a modern-rock radio staple.
"I wanted to get back to our roots and make a rock record again," singer/guitarist Jason Wade told Billboard. "I feel like our (self-titled) last record, leading off with 'You and Me,' the ballad, it kinda softened us up a little bit. I think people forget that we started off as an alternative band, then we kinda got immersed in that Adult Top 40 and Top 40 world. This time it was really refreshing just to plug our guitars back in and crank it up and play some uptempo rock music."
He added, "I sometimes have a tendency to get too deep and overthink things a little bit. This whole process has been more about, 'Let's just create the song and not really overthink it.' I've been in a positive frame of mind lately, so I wanted this record to be a little more upbeat or uptempo or whatever, and I think you can definitely feel that here."
Lifehouse is currently mixing the album, and in June will head out on tour with the Goo Goo Dolls.
